Overview

What more can be said of the pre-Pyrennean towns that litter the northern most reaches of Catalunya.  Wine and olives, dolmens and menhirs, castells and mas.  Blah Blah Blah.  So, if you find all of that rather boring, then, don’t go there.  If you like this sort of thing, Espolla is the place for you.  Can’t wait to visit!

There are two celebrations held there each year, the Festa Major d’estiu, commemorating Sant Jaume, in July, and the Fira de l’Oli i Olivera, held in January.  If I have missed any others, please inform me and I will include them, as with all of my posts.

There are a few fortified mas and ruins in the town of Espolla.  The medieval tower, at Cal Marques (Can Camps), fully renovated, is actually on the market, at this writing.  850,000Euro  Holiday home, anyone?  http://www.habitaclia.com/comprar-torre-en-espolla/inmueble_1396000792432
