Sant Pere Pescador

Sant Pere Pescador extends from the sea inland to RIumors, Vilamacolum, l’Armentera, and further south, by l’Escala.  Occupied since Roman times, if not before, evidenced by the discovery of late Roman (tardoroma) era tombs.  The town was referred to as Villa Militiano, according to documentation from 913 AD.  The name changed in the 11c.  The downtown area has several listed monuments and wonderful early architecture.  There are some remains of the late medieval walls and fortifications.   Carrer de Serra Bullones has several carved lintels and a magnificent escudo on the corner.  There is a pink house on Carrer Bon Aire(20) that I must own.  The weekly market is on Wednesday.  There is a wine and cheese market every other week in summer, as well.
